JETS FALL TO 0-5
- Tom Mele, Contributor
East Rutherford NJ: The Jets suffered another loss Sunday dropping their record to 0-5. As a contributor for BCP+ I am obligated this week to report the facts.
Fact.
Cowboys 37
Jets. 22
Fact.
The Jets held the time of possession over Dallas 34-25 and were close in yardage 416-378z On third down conversions, the Jets were very respectable 7-16. Breece Hall had 113 yards rushing on only 14 carries leading a Jets offense that accumulated 144 yards overall on the ground. On the other side of the ball it was not so good. The Jets D allowed 180 yards on the ground most to RB Javonte Williams who had 135 on only 16 carries.
If you read the tea leaves and look beyond the facts I look no further than Gang Green’s inability to produce turnovers and negative yard plays on defense. Today the Dallas Cowboys played without their top four offensive lineman and the New York Jets were only successful getting to the quarterback once. That same offensive line produced 180 yards rushing for America’s team. On the other side of the ball, the Jets offense once again committed a very untimely turnover, with the Jets trailing 10 to 3 and driving for a score Breece Hall was stripped of the ball running towards the end zone. The Cowboys recovered at the 7 yard line and would go down the field meticulously in a 90 yard drive that resulted in a touchdown and essentially ended the game.
The Jets have become the first team in NFL history to start the season 0-5 with no takeaways on defense.
Next week, the Jets travel to London to face the Minnesota Vikings. No matter what happens next week Aaron Glenn will still not have his first NFL victory on US soil. Stick with the BCP plus as we bring to you all the NFL coverage.
