GIANTS DEFEAT SUPER BOWL CHAMPS IN WEEK 6

- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief

For the first time in a long time, the New York Giants had a milestone game. Thursday Night Football’s matchup between Big Blue and the Philadelphia Eagles was a one-sided affair. The young “Frat Bros” Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and co.defeated the defending Super Bowl Champions 34-17.

In last week’s recap, I mentioned that Giants fans finally have something to route for in a FUN, young team. Jaxson Dart proves to be a worthy starting quarterback for the franchise, making smart plays, great throws, and running when he needs to. However, his fatal flaw seems to be charging head first to break tackles and not sliding when needed. One scary moment saw Dart down on the field for a few minutes before being assisted to the medical tent. Luckily Dart returned triumphantly to the game and seemed to be more than fine.

Running back Cam Skattebo scored a hattrick with three touchdowns and running over 100 yards. Skatt is an old school running back with a new school attitude. His enthusiasm is infectious. So much so that Ryan Fitzpatrick ripped his shirt off along with the young RB in the post-game show, making for a hilarious moment.

As for the Wide Receivers, I was more than blown away by their effectiveness after a poor performance by Slayton last week, and the massive void left on the field with the injured Malik Nabers. Everyone is wondering what this team will look like when Nabers eventually returns next season, and I’d personally like to remain cautiously optimistic.

The defense played well. It looked like Saquon was going to break out early and often, but New York’s D-line was able to contain the top tier running back and limit Jalen Hurtz as well.

Again, I remain cautiously optimistic with the growth of the team over the next few seasons as fans are becoming emotionally invested once again. There will be growing pains. There will be mistakes. There will inevitably be injuries. But, for the first time in a long time, the New York Giants gave us HOPE for the future.

Big Blue will be tested next week against the red hot Denver Broncos.
