JOHN CENA TURNS BABYFACE WITH A TEN MINUTE PROMO

Last night on Friday Night Smackdown in Newark, NJ, during the go-home show to the first ever 2 Night SummerSlam, John Cena turned babyface in a ten minute promo. That’s right. After months of heartbreaking, low blow, belt shot victories, and telling us that we were in a “disfunctional relationship”, the WWE Champion effortlessly transitioned back into a babyface. And I believed every single word of it. Hook, line and sinker. 

 

Cena claimed that Rhodes reawakened something in him. He had realized his mistakes. The champ stated that he capitalized on an opportunity in someone else’s vision, (The Rock), and  that he didn’t want to end his career like this. He wanted to take the WWE Championship home for all the right reasons. Cena told Cody that there was only ONE Platinum Rapper who would kick his ass at SummerSlam, directly taking a shot at Travis Scott.

 

It was simply brilliant.The crowd bit, as did I. We chanted along to “The Champ is Here!” and “If you want some, come get some!” without hesitation. It’s a testament to how good Cena really is. We are in the palm of his hand. I want to root for Cena, and I think this is the redemption arc we all wanted to see. However, this can have the exact opposite effect if Cena goes back on his words, and this is all a ruse. If so, I’ll be the first to admit I fell for all of it. In my heart, and to a fault I believe, that for THIS final form of John Cena, The Time is NOW.
