GIANTS WEEK 5: WIN, LOSE, OR DRAWN OUT
- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief
“I told the guys, was it a win? No. Was it a loss? No. It was a tie. How does it make you feel? I'm happy it wasn't a loss, and I'm sad it wasn't a win. So that's how I feel. It’s a tie. So I know it sounds so obvious, but that's kinda how you feel. We’ll take it. We’ll take it right now…” Giants Head Coach John Harbaugh stated in the postgame press conference after Big Blue tied the Washington Commanders 27-27 Sunday afternoon.
The tie comes with mixed feelings for the Giants as the team was down by 14 at one point in the game with little defensive resistance or offensive momentum until late in the second quarter. Quarterback Jameis Winston completed 33 of 54 passes, for 326 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Malik Nabers caught 11 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. However, The Giants’ run game suffered greatly, with a key turnover late in the game.
Yet somehow, in the remaining seconds of the game, the Commanders made a devastating mistake. With the ball in field goal range and the easy victory seemingly a spiked ball and field goal attempt away, quarterback Jayden Daniels was unable to spike the ball. Washington Head Coach Dan Quinn could be seen throwing his headset on the ground in frustration. Both Quinn and Daniels both took responsibility for the crucial error after the game.
The New York Giants have proven themselves to be a come from behind team under the leadership of Harbaugh. While still feeling the effects of multiple significant player injuries, the G-men continue to somehow find a way.
Can the Giants find a way against the New Orleans Saints next week at home? The stats say yes, as the Saints are just 1-4 on the season, and Big Blue remains atop the NFC East.
