GIANTS WEEK 16: SILVER LININGS

- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief

As we head into the new year, we also reflect on the year that was. For the New York Football Giants, the season has been abysmal, with Big Blue sitting at the bottom of the league with the worst record of 2-13. However, there are silver linings and at this point in the season, a win is actually a loss.

After the team’s home loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Screentimed.com ‘s Andrew Khellah shared with BCP+, “It was a cold game especially for Jordan Mason who I saw go down. The Giants nearly had a pick 6 to begin the game and then had a pick 6 called back on a penalty before finalling doing it in the 3rd quarter. It was the Giants first defensive TD all season. Close game with an L - story of the season. But hopefully we secure the #1 pick with yet another Tennessee Titans win vs the Chiefs.”

The number one pick in the NFL draft is indeed the focus for the remainder of the season. With players like Jaxson Dart, and Brian Burns, not to mention the returning Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers, there is still hope for the future. Burns has more sacks than games he’s played in this season at 15. (Played in 11 Games) Dart continues to play ahead of his years (despite a poor performance against the Vikings) BUT is getting decimated week after week, as the Giants offensive line continues to struggle. Fans hope he can stay healthy as he continues to play hard.

Mike Kafka is 0-5 as the interim head coach, and it is safe to assume that we will have a new full time head coach come next season. Here me out. Despite a tough season, the pieces may be in place, and given some potentially good decision making by the front office we could have a new healthy young team with a solid head coach at the helm.

Time will tell, but for now the Giants head into the holidays taking on the Raiders this Sunday.
