DAMIAN PRIEST VISITS SOMERSET PATRIOTS

It was a beautiful Summer night at TD Bank Ballpark Tuesday evening in Bridgewater, NJ. Not only was it Bark in the Park night for the Somerset Patriots, but it was also WWE night at the stadium. None other than former World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest graced fans with his appearance at the stadium meeting & greeting, and even throwing out the first pitch to get things started. 

 

“Fun night ahead at the TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ. Wrestling, baseball and Dogs!” Priest posted on X. 

 

Priest, a Bronx native and longtime Yankees fan, was more than happy to introduce himself to the players of the Yankees’ AA affiliate as they tried to make a push towards the playoffs. It was also fitting that Aaron Judge made his return to the Yankees’ lineup that very same night. Priest’s “All Rise” catchphrase is a direct homage to the Yankees Captain. 

 

Priest’s interactions with the fans were incredibly heartwarming, and at times very emotional. Cancer survivors, special needs, full families, and one family that even drove over five hours just to meet the WWE Superstar were all met with a big smile and warm reception. There were tears of joy from fans of all ages. This reporter was genuinely blown away by how gracious Priest was with his fans, and how much he meant to every single one of them. 

 

Fans asked the former Judgement Day member about his time with the group, his current partnership with R-Truth, and his favorite feuds. Young fans made Priest drawings and handmade bracelets. Priest made time and went the extra mile for every single person he met. 

 

As an added bonus, the first 1000 fans in attendance were given a free custom Somerset Patriots pinstripe jersey with a WWE Championship printed across the front. Additionally throughout the concourse, there were many dog rescues, vendors, and furry friends. Fans were even treated to a pup parade before the game. 

 

The icing on the cake, The Somerset Patriots went on to defeat the Hartford Yard Goats, 7-2.
