GIANTS WEEK 6: BIG BLUE FALLS TO THE SAINTS
- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief
The New York Football Giants struggled greatly against the 1-4 New Orleans Saints Sunday afternoon at Metlife Stadium. Star running back Cam Skattebo played only 6 snaps due to punitive measures from his coach after a big fumble last week against the Commanders. Starting quarterback Jameis Winston went 14 for 26 with two interceptions until he was replaced by newcomer J.J. McCarthy who almost led the team to victory.
Despite the loss, the strong showing from McCarthy has both fans and the media wondering who will start this Sunday in Texas. “We are working through that now, honing in on a decision” Coach Harbaugh told the media.
The running back situation remains to be a question mark as well. RB Najee Harris, who had some comments about the running back situation, was quickly cut from the team on Tuesday afternoon. Although somewhat surprising, this move seems in line with Harbaugh's no nonsense approach to coaching the team.
Conversely, Cam Skattebo owned his mistake, telling the media, “It’s hard. I’ve made mistakes and I’ve got to own up to them. If that’s what they want to do, keep me on the sidelines because of that…. I totally understand.” Skatt seems to be taking the high road here, and hopefully Giants fans will see him back on the field next week.
After falling short to New Orleans (34-27) Big Blue heads to Houston to take on the 2-4 Texans. At 3-2-1 they remain at the top of the NFC East.
