A LOOK BACK AT THE JETS HOME OPENER
- Tom Mele, Contributor
Last week Jets super fan Awesome Amy said the play calling was not aggressive enough. Her quote was "Pass Pass Pass!!" It warms my heart to say the Jets are listening at the BCP + nation.
Thursday night's home opener at Met Life, saw the Jets pass the ball on their first six plays!!!
Aaron Rodgers was the lightening rod igniting the Jets to a 24-3 win over long time division nemesis New England (1-2). Rodgers was 12/13 to start the game and finished 27/35 for 281 yards and two scores, one to Allen Lazard and one to Garrett Wilson. Lazard after a lackluster first year with NY is already showing what he can do with his longtime teammate and Wilson's TD was the first of what many feel is the winning combination this season. Tyler Conklin led the team with 7 receptions for 93 yards which is saying something as typically Aaron does not go to the TE often.
This game was not as close as the score indicated, Gang Green did something no other team in the Super Bowl era has ever done to an opponent.
400+ yards of offense
40:00 minutes of possession
0 turnovers
0 TD allowed
7+ sacks
A historical performance by Jets (2-1) who now have 10 days off to rest up injured starters LB C.J. Mosley and OT Morgan Moses.
Last week it was announced DE Jermaine Johnson is officially out for the season and his replacement Will McDonald IV is certainly making up for his loss and the "no show" of high-profile Free Agent Haason Reddick. Mcdonald in his two games as a Jet now has 5 1/2 sacks on the season after capturing two more this week.
The following Sunday the Jets will be home again vs the Denver Broncos as QB Zach Wilson will make another appearance at Met Life this time on the opposing side. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section on Zach Wilson returning to NY and Aaron Rodgers performance in Week 3.
