STEELERS WEEK 7: SUNDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

The 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the 2-4 New York jets on Sunday night football. 

 

This was PRIME TIME baby, the biggest and most watched game of the week. 

 

There was so many storylines going into this game, the Jets added Wide Receiver stand out Davante Adams to their roster. This was obviously big news because he’s been Aaron Rodgers Wide receiver 1 for years in Green Bay. Could this move help turn around the Jets season ? 

 

On the other side, the Steelers themselves made headlines by making a move at Quarterback. Despite going 4-2 with 10 touchdowns and only 1 turnover….coach Mike Tomlin decided to bench Justin fields and go with Veteran QB Russell Wilson. 

 

I personally thought Justin did enough to NOT BE BENCHED and to keep his job as the starter. But I also understand they brought Russ in to give him a chance and he was meant to be the starter before his hamstring injury. 

 

So under the bright lights of Sunday night football, It would be former Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers vs. former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson ! 

 

Russ started off RUSTY (pun intended) but that was expected after not playing a game since October 12, 2023. 

 

So more then a full year of not playing a real game of football. 

 

We did get a FG to start of the game 

 

But the jets would go right down the field after and score a touchdown with Bryce hall 

 

7-3 jets 

 

Pittsburgh would once again come up with a short drive and have to settle for another FG. 

 

7-6 Jets 

 

The jets would add on even more points after a costly plenty by Pittsburgh, Tyler Conklin caught a touchdown pass by Aaron Rodgers 

 

They would fail a two point conversion though 

 

15-6 Jets 

 

The Steelers would finally score a touchdown right before half with a beautiful throw and even better catch by Pickens. 

 

15-13 

 

The second half Russ would come alive 

 

Everything started clicking for the offense 

 

It helps that even some over thrown balls, Pickens and Freiermuth caught. 

 

The Steelers would have 31 unanswered points ! 

 

Russ would finish the game with 16-29, 264 Yds, 2 TDs plus a running touchdown 

 

Pickens had his best game of the year with

5 Rec, 111 Yds, 1 TD

 

N. Harris had another fantastic game 

21 Carries, 102 Yards, 1 Touchdown

 

Steelers won 37-15 

 

The Pittsburgh Steelers play another New York team next week in the New York Giants 

 

They are now 5-2 on the year ! 

 

If Russ can keep playing this well, this team could end up feeling DANGEROUS.
