BLINK 182 RELEASE 2 NEW TRACKS
BLINK 182 NEW MUSIC VIDEO "MORE THAN YOU KNOW"
Ahead of the release of their much anticipated new album, One More Time , Blink-182 released two stellar new music videos on YouTube.
The first was a lyric video for the new track, "More Than You Know", featuring black and white live tour footage of the band with the love letter lyrics atop the video. The track starts with an old piano melody of sorts, then (in true Blink fashion) comes in with a driving verse sung by Hoppus. "You poison yourself with the thought that I won't love you to death." DeLonge follows with a heavier chorus, which is as always, the perfect juxtaposition to Hoppus. "I don't feel pain, but I feel I'll feel more than you ever know. I don't feel shame. Don't have highs, but I've got some lows." Barker's driving drums complete the equation to make this a really solid Blink track that is almost an amalgamation of a track off of Neighborhoods and California. The story of the song here is very obvious addressing the multiple splits within the band with lines like, "Words that we'll never write", and "Wait for the phone to ring."

This theme continues within the very heartfelt, tear wrenching title track, "One More Time." The track starts off with an acoustic guitar, which at first I questioned why Tom would be using the electric in the video. However, this would make sense as the video continued. In a small love letter to the fans AND each other, the background of the scenes would change with Tom, Mark, and Travis remaining in position singing the track. Scenes from previous music videos, album covers, infamous stage performances, TRL, and a few deep cuts were all featured. I personally loved all the scenic cameos, reacting as each one appeared on the screen. Bonus points for the "Always" split screen effect.

Aside from an absolutely BRILLIANT concept, this one pulled at the heart strings with DeLonge's pre-chorus lines like "Do I have to die hear you miss me?" "Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye?." "I don't want to wait to do this one more time." Hoppus' line, "I with they told us it shouldn't take a sickness, or airplanes falling out the sky", will also hit you right in the feels, referring to the fact that tragedy typically is what brought the band back together. The real tear jerking moment is when Hoppus and DeLonge sing the second verse together, "I miss you. Took time that I'd admit it. It still hurts even after all these years. And I know the next time, ain't always gonna happen. I gotta say I love you while we're here." If you're not completely bawling at this point, the camera zooming up on Travis Barker simply singing the words, "One More Time" will get you every time. Barker's brush work on the song is absolutely incredible, making this an absolute masterpiece and quite possibly a new mission statement for the band.
