EAGLES WEEK 1 RECAP

-Kenny Pete, Contributor

To quote legendary Philadelphia Phillie Mike Schmidt, this Eagles season opener fits the classic "thrill of victory and the agony of reading about it the next day." The Eagles escaped Foxboro Mass with the win & are currently undefeated in the division. Despite offensive struggles , the defense was able to pick the team up and guide them to a win.

Early on, "dont call me Darius" SLAY 's catch & run for a touchdown off a Mac Jones deflection set the tone. The Patriots had no answers for the Eagles D line who were all over them like a Wiz Wit from Tony & Nick's. Eagles won the turnover battle with 2 takeaways,  one for a score SLAY.

Patriots offense started to percolate at the end of the second. TE Henry made a great play going up over the top to haul in a pass & keep the drive alive.

Eagles penalties helped extend underwhelming patriots drives, who showed the 1st signs of life at the end of the half with a TD to make it 16 - 14 Eagles

Eagles OC Bryan Johnson did not have a very good outing in his 1st as play caller. Prolific TE Dallas Goedert did not have a target till late in the 4th qtr. Not using RB DeAndre Swift to his potential & calling designed running plays in long yardage situations are not ideal moves to make , luckily Josh Elliot bailed them out , going 4 for 4 on firld goals , 32 , 56 , 46 and 51yards to make it 22.14 top of the 4th.

Hassan Reddick with the defensive play of the game with relentless pressure forcing Jones to throw incomplete on 4th & 8 in a crucial situation.

Davis & Sweat combined sack on Jones after a Hurts fumble gave the ball back to New england . The Eagles did enough to hang on to win 25 - 20. On to Thursday night in Philadelphia vs the Vikings.
