Jets Week 11 Report
-Tom Mele, Contributor
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen put recent criticism aside as he produced one of his best games of the season. The Bills demolished the Jets 32-6 before a sold-out crowd in Orchard Park, NY.
Buffalo improved to 6- 5 as Allen threw for 275 yards and three TD’s, in producing their fourth win of the season by 26 or more points. The win was important as Buffalo tries to keep pace with first place Miami in the AFC East, who also won.
Earlier in the week The Bills changed offensive coordinators proving the season was slipping away and came out on fire on the opening kickoff. During the play, special teams forced a fumble on Xavier Gibson.
The Bills went up 3-0 as Gang Green’s defense proved to be stingy.
Jets QB Zach Wilson struggled again with the offense going 7-15 for 81 yards. Wilson was able to produce a 9-yard TD pass to RB Breece Hall right before the half cutting the lead to 16-6 but that was not nearly enough.
Head Coach Robert Saleh made the long awaited QB change to Tim Boyle in the second half. Boyle entered with 2:16 left in the 3rd quarter and produced a first down. However, a Garret Wilson fumble turned the ball over back to Buffalo. Boyle’s second offensive series ended in 3 plays as the Jets punted and his third serieswas 10 plays but ended in an interception.
These teams are going in opposite directions as the Bills played their best football in a must win situation while the Jets continued insufficient offensive play and now the defense is starting to feel the pressure of always needing to keep them in the game.
In the NY/NJ media, all the talk will be this week on just who should be the QB for Gang Green going forward.
Jets Punter Thomas Morstead is having a pro bowl season and their biggest play on offense was courtesy of him on a 18 yard pass to Brandin Echols on a fake punt from their own 24 on a fourth and 2.
The 32 points surrendered by the Jets were the most since a 33-18 loss to Philadelphia on Dec 5, 2021.
The Jets TD at the end of the first half was their first in three weeks since RB Breece Hall scored against the Giants. Jets LT Meki Becton injured an ankle and left in the first half. He will have tests Monday.
Short week for the Jets, as they play the first ever game on BLACK FRIDAY in a afternoon matchup against the 7-3 Miami Dolphins.
