Netflix Peeks Behind the Curtain of Indy Wrestling with Hit Series Wrestlers

This took me longer to write than I had hoped because if I said everything I truly felt, this would be less of a review and more of a novel. I truly believe that anybody who is a fan of pro wrestling at any level should watch this series. In fact, anyone that is a fan of drama, great storytelling, and action should watch this series.
Wrestlers chronicles the pro wrestling company Ohio Valley Wrestling, or OVW for short. Yes, it's the same OVW that created such stars as John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista and Brock Lesnar. This show follows them throughout the summer of 2022 at a very crucial time financially for the company's history. Most people know that WWE legend, Al Snow runs the bookings and day to day operations but many did not know that The mayor of Louisville Craig Greenberg and local radio host and lawyer Matt Jones are co owners and the real financial investors in the company.
While I feel like the show Heels is essentially a Wrestling show with captivating people, I think that Wrestlers is a people show with captivating wrestling.
The elephant in the room. Do I think that the show is 100% true and accurate to actual events? Hmmm.... Let's rephrase that, Do I believe that a Netflix produced show about the pro wrestling industry that is absolutely accurate to real events and actions?... No.
And I may be wrong, In fact, I HOPE I am wrong because that would make this show that much more amazing.
Without giving any spoilers, my elevator pitch for anyone that's never heard of the show is as follows: This show is about a group of passionate people attempting to define their own meaning of success while dealing with day to day drama, vices and responsibilities that all try to deter them from fulfilling their dream. It's also a great editorial on what happens when someone that has never done something attempts to tell everyone else how to be better at their job.
Every single episode has an incredible mix of in ring action as well as a deep dive into the people and finances that it takes to keep a business from going under. You can't help but get invested in the past, present and future of every talent. That is from Al Snow all the way down to the announce team that bust their ass to film, edit, produce and flyer.
Even though I was only in "the business" for a cup of coffee, I can immediately see the accuracy of what happens behind the curtains.
Best part of all, the talent are immediately reaping the benefits of the show as they are being booked at conventions and other wrestling gigs around the country. (I am personally going to meet one of the main stars in October!) Overall for drama, action, industry insight and emotional investment from the opening scene to the end credits, I give Wrestlers a strong 7.5 out of 10!!
