THE NEW YORK JETS FALL TO 49ERS

- Tom Mele, Contributor

As mentioned here last week we are looking for your opinions and analysis on the Jets 2024 season.  We will start off with someone who was at the game on Monday Night, none other than the “Shining Star” of professional wrestling, former ISPW Heavyweight Champion, Rey Calitri !!

The well known world traveler had this to say:

“The Quest for 6 started at Levi’s Stadium against the New York jets.  The energy was electric as niners legends , Frank Gore was getting inducted into the Niners Hall of Fame at the half.  Teammates Patrick Willis and Vernon Davis were in attendance as there was an extra feeling going into the game.

After a TD drive by the Jets, the Niners defense settled down and with the running of RB Jordan Mason, who was filling in for injured star RB Christian McCaffery.  The Jets have a solid defense, but 'Frisco ran away with their first victory of the season 32-19.”

Rey saw in person what everyone saw on TV,  the running game of San Francisco was the difference in week 1, as unsung hero Jordan Mason ran for 147 yards on 28 carries.

Jets fans can take some solace as Aaron Rodgers finally had the chance to showcase his Hall of Fame talent. Rodgers may be 40 years old and not as nimble but his arm strength, his accuracy, his awareness, his QB intelligence showed how this is the QB NY needed. The ability to see what others cannot on the field, case in point, the TD pass to WR Allen Lazzard on the S.F. penalty.  Rodgers has done this more than any QB in NFL history.  When a penalty is called on the defense Rodgers uses the confusion to become super aggressive and provide a big play.  The 32-yard strike to Lazzard was sign of what is to come.

Currently in last place in the AFC EAST after everyone in the division won, but I would take this start over last year’s opening MNF overtime win over Buffalo.  This was a tough matchup on the road against a team many are saying will repeat as NFC Champions.  It was a strong test for Gang Green and one they will be better coming out of.    Week 2 is also on the road as the Jets travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans who also lost in week one.  The BCP plus is here to provide analysis on the Jets and we look forward to your feedback in the comments section.  Till next week
