YANKEES WIN 2 OF 3 AGAINST ROCKIES

Friday night, Carlos Rodon had a stellar night pitching six innings, with 4 hits, 0 runs and 5 strikeouts. Pitching for the Rockies was Kyle Freeland who also pitched well; pitching 6 2/3 innings, with 3 runs on 5 hits, only 2 of those runs earned and 3 strikeouts. The game was 0-0 going into the fourth inning until Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run. Anthony Volpe scored in the fifth inning on a fielding error. Aaron Judge hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, his 49th home run. Final score was 3-0, Yankees won. Rodon earned his 14th win and Clay Holmes earned his 27th safe. Luke Weaver and Jake Cousins pitched 2 hit less innings as well.
Saturday the Yankees held Old Timer’s Day and honored the 2009 World Championship Team. In attendance were many Yankees favorites such as Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui, Mariano Rivera, and Alex Rodriguez.
Will Warren got the start against rookie pitcher Bradley Blalock. Warren didn’t pitch well, lasting only three innings after giving up 6 runs, 5 of which were earned. He did however also have 6 strikeouts. Blalock pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The Rockies bullpen held the Yankees to zero hits for the rest of the game. The Rockies scored 6 runs in three innings. In the third inning Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a RBI double and Alex Verdugo hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Michael Toglia and Jake Cave scored 3 more runs for the Rockies. Final score was 9-2, Rockies won this one.
Sunday afternoon Marcus Stroman pitched against Austin Gomber. Stroman pitched 5 innings, gave up 3 runs and struck out 5. Gomber pitched six innings, gave up 4 runs and struck out 4. The Rockies scored 1 run in the first inning while Jazz Chisholm Jr. had 2 errors. Aaron Judge hit his 50th home run in the first inning, a 2 run home run putting the Yankees up 2-1. Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto both had RBI singles in the second inning. Drew Romo hit a RBI single in the fourth and Ryan McMahon hit a RBI double in the fifth adding 2 more runs for the Rockies. The Yankees had a big seventh inning with Judge, Soto and Giancarlo Stanton each hitting back to back to back home runs. Torres hit a 3 run home run in the eighth inning. The Yankees won 10-3 and Stroman earned his sixth win.
Aaron Judge became the 5th player in MLB history to have 3 seasons with 50 home runs.
The Yankees head to Washington Monday for a 3 game series against the Nationals.
