Jets Drop 15th Straight To Patriots

-Tom Mele, Contributor

On a wet and rainy Sunday afternoon at MetLife stadium the Jets (1-2) fell again to the Patriots (1-2) 15 - 10. Although the score was close and the Jets were inches away from winning on a last second Hail Mary from QB Zach Wilson to WR Randal Cobb, the game was not that close.

The Jets managed just 171 total yards as Gang Green’s offense is not capable of winning games.  The offense which was built for Aaron Rodgers is not working for Zach Wilson, in fact it is frustrating as Wilson looks lost dropping back to pass and has not learned the ability to get rid of the ball and make  smart decisions.

Defenses are now challenging the Jets. RB’s Bryce Hall and Dalvin Cook are not able to pierce past the front seven. It is a recipe for disaster and the fans at MetLife know this is not getting any better if Wilson remains as QB.

The problem is who do you turn too? There is not enough time to sign a Carson Wentz or Matt Ryan
and get them ready for next Sunday Night vs the Defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The Jets will be forced to go with Wilson again and hope they can find some plays that will be quick hitters to spread the defense apart so they can start running the ball. For all the weapons the Jets, have an offense they cannot throw the ball down the field.

The Jets could not convert on 3rd down as they were a dismal 2-14, thus putting tremendous pressure on the defense. Conversely the Jets defense which has been stingy could not get the Patriots off the field enough as New England was 8-19 on third down.

This is a crucial week for the Jets as they must decide if they are signing a third qb to eventually take over for Wilson. After a strong preseason which featured the team on HBO’s Hard Knocks the Jets had resolve and a pedigree that was able to steal a win from the Bills in week one once their HOF QB Aaron Rodgers went down with a season ending injury. Now the team’s confidence is wavering as the sideline was starting to fragment during the game. The players are frustrated and have no answers, it appears only the Jets front office can provide some answer and this week we will see who head coach Robert Saleh brings into the Florham Park training facility to stop the bleeding.
