WWE NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS REVIEW

- April & Ray Claudio, Contributors

Since there were no tag team matches at WWE Night of Champions, our very own April and Ray Claudio tag teamed a recap and their review of every match from the PLE.

King of the Ring Match:
The sold out arena was electrifying as Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes kicked off the event. The crowd sang both their entrance songs at the top of their lungs as each wrestler engaged and encouraged the crowd to keep going. During the match Orton grabbed his back showing signs of pain after a suplex which Rhodes took advantage of. There were multiple finisher kick outs starting with the Cross Rhodes and then an RKO. Rhodes attempted a Cody Cutter but was countered with an RKO.  Orton grabbed a steel chair from outside the ring but it was only a distraction so he could expose a turnbuckle but it was he who ended up being thrown into the turnbuckle and Rhodes hit him with the Cross Rhodes to win the match. Rhodes now heads to Summerslam but where does Orton go from here?

We give the match ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rhea Ripley Vs. Raquel Rodriguez Street Fight Match:
Raquel entered the ring looking lonely with her tag belt since Liv Morgan is out recovering from shoulder surgery. Ripley came out to a big reaction from the crowd. Since this was a street fight multiple weapons were used: kendo stick, steel chair, steel steps, a commentary table, Ripley’s leather belt, and a table against the turnbuckle. Ripley hit Raquel with a Razor’s Edge, a roundhouse kick and a Prizm trap before Roxanne Perez appeared and interfered. Ripley vanquished Roxanne via trash can and won the match hitting Raquel with a Riptide off a table that laid across the top rope.

We give this match ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Karrion Kross Vs. Sami Zayn:
Karrion entered the match with Scarlett with a black and white entrance and the crowd was singing with Sami as he walked to the ring. Karrion was a little sloppy at times nearly dropping Sami on his head. In the end Sami won the match with a Helluva Kick.

We give the match ⭐️⭐️1/2

United States Championship - Jacob Fatu Vs. Solo Sikoa:
Solo started off strong but Fatu came back as the crowd cheered for him. After a German Suplex by each of them and a DDT and a Swanton Bomb by Fatu, the match was interrupted by JC Mateo. While Mateo distracted the referee, Tonga Loa made an appearance for the first time since Survivor Series and hit Fatu with a neck breaker. Fatu hit Solo with moonsault and went for the pin but there was no referee. Now enters Hikuleo who choke slammed Fatu onto the commentary table. But once back in the ring Solo hit Fatu with a Samoan Spike to win the match and become the new United States Champion.

We give the match ⭐️⭐️1/2

The Queen of the Ring Match:
Jade Cargill, dressed as Storm from X-Men won Queen of the Ring despite a sloppy performance and Asuka appearing to be in peak fighting form in front of a crowd that appeared underwhelmed by the match.  Cargill won by countering Asuka’s Empress Impact with a Jaded Slam. Cargill is Queen of the Ring but can she get the crowd behind her enough for a successful run?

We give the match ⭐️⭐️

Undisputed WWE Championship- CM Punk Vs. John Cena Match:
The arena came back to life once CM Punk’s music hit followed by the “John Cena Sucks” chant. Punk poked fun at Cena doing the “You Can’t See Me” gesture as Cena laid in the ring. Cena hit Punk with the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and the Attitude Adjustment twice; then the “This is Awesome” chants started. After some back and forth Cena went for a shoulder tackle but Punk ducked and the referee got knocked out of the ring. Punk hit Cena with a second GTS but there was no referee. As Punk looked for the referee Seth Rollins’ music hit as he came out with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase. Rollins stood in the ring and called out a referee from the back as Breakker and Reed threw Punk into a commentary table. Cena basically tackled the referee and proceed to give Rollins the Attitude Adjustment. Breakker and Reed came into the ring to assist Rollins but were distracted by Penta coming out who was later assisted by Sami Zayn. Cena cleared Reed from the ring with an Attitude Adjustment while Breakker was dealing with Penta and Zayn. The match ended with Punk reaching out to Cena for a handshake that moved into a hug before Cena attempted a low blow that Punk stopped. Rollins then hit Punk with the briefcase and a stomp but Cena took the opportunity to pin Punk after he threw Rollins over the top rope and won the match.

We give the match ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
