“Expect the Unexpected”: Big Brother Recap Blog.

-Wayne Keehner, Contributor

How do you think you would fare being locked in a house with about 15 total strangers and having every move and conversation filmed and recorded for over 100 days? Sounds intense, right? Well from July 5th 2000 that’s exactly what 367 volunteered to do. If you haven’t figured it out yet, that tells me you didn’t read the title of the article. Also, you may be missing out on the drama and entertainment that is the hit CBS reality show “Big Brother.”

As of this article being posted we will be well into week 3 of the 25th season. If you want to just pick up and see what all the fuss is about, this is a great season to start as already there have been so many unique twists and turns to the game that have separated it from and of the previous seasons.

To know where the show is going, let’s do a quick recap of where it has been. Going into this season it was 860 episodes ago when we first heard host Julie Chen mutter those famous words… “Expect the unexpected” and it has been just that. So far it has seen 20 normal seasons, 2 all star invitational seasons and even 3 celebrity seasons. In an odd crossover of my passions there has also been 2 pro wrestlers that took part. First is former Impact wrestler and current OVW National Champion, Mr-Pectacular Jessie Goddarz, and current AEW TNT Champion (Even though Christian has some sort of
delusion that it’s his) Austin Matelson, or as we know him now, Luchasaurus!

Now if you really want to jump all in and catch up on the show Paramount + has every episode of every season on their streaming platform. That’s also where to find the live, uncensored Live streamsthanks to the 94 HD cameras and the 113 microphones that are in the Big Brother House. Trust me, those live feeds have caused some serious drama especially in the last few seasons. Besides the occasional explicit language and adult content there has been many cases of people saying controversial and downright inappropriate things that have led to their disqualification from the show, serious house discussions and mental stress that has seen people voluntarily remove themselves from the house.

At the very core the show is a mix of a social experiment that places many diverse people with different backgrounds, thoughts and beliefs in a house, and makes them rely on each other to move forward and excel.

The other part is a competition with many physical, mental and social challenges that see houseguests compete for power by winning head of household, have not and Power of Veto challenges to help them have power, avoid punishment and dodge elimination. Every week at least 1 houseguest is eliminated via a secret vote from the other houseguests.

The show has garnered such attention that multiple countries have created Big Brother series of their own including Canada, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, UK, and many others…. So join me on this segment every issue where I will recap what we’ve seen so far in season 25 and get everyone up to speed on the weekly tv broadcasts (3 a week) and the main things you may have missed in the live feeds. Not going to spoil things yet in case you are interested and want to catch up on this season. My next article will be a full deep dive into where we are in season 25 so far and the unprecedented twists and turns that have rocked the house. Thanks for reading and be sure to read this segment every week for a small… Reality Check!
