5 TAKEAWAYS FROM WWE THIS WEEK

- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief

This week in WWE featured multiple match of the year contenders, memorable moments, and unfortunately, some untimely injuries. Let’s take a look at five takeaways from this week in WWE.

Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis are the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions

Not only workhorses, but at times chameleons, both Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis of the Wyatt Sicks are the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions. We’ve had the opportunity to cover most of Joe Gacy’s career here on BCP, from the independents to Evolve to NXT to SmackDown. The guy deserves all of this and more. From being a part of the Unwanted in Evolve to now a key player in the Wyatt Sicks, the sky continues to be the limit for Gacy. Lumis continues to show not only his range with his persona, especially from being a non verbal character, but with his in ring acumen. Expect a dominant run from this team.

The Family Drama Comes to a Head on NXT

Tony D’Angelo , Stacks Lorenzo, and Luca Dicristifano finally came to blows on NXT this past Tuesday in a stellar triple threat match. I have to give kudos to commentators Vic Joseph, Booker T, and Cory Graves on the call who did an incredible job recapping the entire story and everyone’s respective roles in it. Great match all around including the expected crowbar and a crazy spear through the NXT wall that was absolutely devastating. D’Angelo stands tall, and rightfully so, but do we see the Don of NXT on the main roster sometime soon?

Naomi is the NEW Women’s World Champion

Naomi has reached her final form. After taking another L to Jade Cargill, Naomi surprised everyone by cashing in at the end of the main event of Evolution on Rhea and Iyo’s match. Many expected a possible cash in on Trish and Tiffany, but this was a welcomed surprise. What’s so interesting about this is that fans are very much behind Naomi, who is a clear cut heel. She’s so good in the ring, and her persona has a subtle truth to it, fans are here for the journey, even if she doesn’t need your applause anymore.

Evolution Features Multiple Match of the Year Contenders

It’s undeniable that Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky have amazing chemistry. But this match was on another level. You could even make a case for this being better than the WrestleMania triple threat match. We didn’t get a clear cut winner because of Naomi’s unexpected cash in, but what a moment, not to mention a fitting ending to the PLE. Other matches like the Women’s Intercontinental Triple Threat and Trish Stratus VS. Tiffany Stratton are up there as well.

Seth Rollins Injury Creates a What’s Next Scenario

First and foremost, we send our best wishes to the injured Seth Rollins. As the machine continues to move forward, it begs the question what happens to The Money in The Bank briefcase moving forward? Does it go to Bron Breakker or Bronson Reed? Will there be another Money in the Bank ladder match at SummerSlam? This is very significant as Seth was a puzzle piece in A LOT of storylines on both RAW and SmackDown. Heyman indirectly addressed the situation briefly on RAW, but expect an answer next week.
