UFL KICKS OFF IN ARLINGTON

- Kelvin Kately, Senior Editor

The champions of both The XFL and USFL respectively, faced off today in a great contest to open the 2024 UFL season. Helping us kick off the festivities were league owners, Dany Garcia and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Ultimately it was the Birmingham Stallions that walked out of Choctaw Stadim with the 27 - 14 victory.

This game featured a duel of star QBs. Luis Perez, the man who helped to spark the insane championship title run of the Renegades, faced off with Matt Corral, a former Carolina Panther pick, who took over for the injured Angel Martinez. Corral finished 12-21 for 201 passing yards while Perez finished 19-28 for 214 passing yards.

While both teams came out swinging, Arlington lost their momentum towards the end of the first half, and they didn't seem to recover from it. Birmingham's biggest advantage is their line, and today they controlled both sides of the ball.

Arlington, however, did show that they are a capable team despite the loss. Up until the mid-4th Quarter, the game was close and still a winnable one.

Should the Renedgades panic? No. There are plenty of positives to take away from this game. The biggest takeaway from today is liming the mistakes. Birmingham took advantage off very opportunity thrown their way. Limiting the mistakes was the difference between winning and losing.

Next week, the Renegades travel to St. Louis to take on the Battlehawks, who also lost a nailbiter today in Michigan.
