Pittsburgh Steelers Weeks 15 & 16 Recap: Two for The Price of One
Tyler Yasembousky, Contributor
I’m gonna be brief about week 15. You may have been wondering why I didn’t put out the weekly. It’s because I haven’t been feeling very well health-wise and also I haven’t been doing very well mentally in terms of being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
After back to back weeks, losing to a two win Cardinal team and a two win Patriots team, I
thought I was at my lowest. I was publicly calling for Mike Tomlin to finally get fired, which I’ve
never done in my entire life. I’ve always supported the man and I still think he’s an amazing
coach. Perhap my frustration was just getting the better of me.
So going into week 15 against the Colts. I really wasn’t expecting much. I figured we would lose. I mean come on we are basically flushing the season down the toilet at this point. But then out of nowhere, we start the game super hot. It was amazing but the roller coaster of being a Steelers fan in 2023 all came crashing down by the second half as we lost to the Colts 30 to 13. At that point I wasn’t mad I wasn’t even sad I was disgusted. I had nothing to say. No thoughts to share, I just really want the season to be over. I’m tired of watching these games and tired of every week.
So heading in a week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals one of arrivals a team we’ve beaten
this year. I really wasn’t expecting anything I figured here is where we’re gonna lose this game.
Mike Tomlin will probably get traded or fired and enough will be enough but just like an evil
villain, in a movie. You thought we were dead, and we came back to life…
With Mason Rudolph of all people, a man who I publicly said, was the worst quarterback in the
organization. He was complete trash. I didn’t even know why we picked them up in the off-
season and the stay on the team, but just like Thanos said “ perhaps I treated you harshly”
On Christmas Eve Mason Rudolph with his nose, so bright lead the Steelers team, to a win. I
couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe the way this offensive looked. We finally had life for the first time in 16 weeks.
Was it just a Christmas miracle or is this the way this team is going to play now that Mason is at quarterback. I honestly don’t know. I honestly don’t wanna get my hopes up too high. It is Mason Rudolph. I’m not trying to take another shot of the man, but he has quite a track record.
I know I’m not throwing out a bunch of history stats like I usually do and I’m not joyful like I usually am, but I just need to see it to believe it. I need us to win this week against Seattle when non-games keep Mike Tomlin‘s winning Street going and then you know what I’ll be happy. I didn’t expect this team to make the playoffs but I did expect us to go home immediately. So I don’t mind if we missed the playoffs.
