Steelers Week 10 Recap: Two
Legendary Blue Collar Francises
Collide!

Pittsburgh and Green Bay. Not really “destination” cities that most people want to go visit or most players want to go play for. Despite being two “small market” cities, Pittsburgh and Green Bay are two of the most IMPORTANT and ICONIC franchises in NFL history. They are also two of the most successful franchises in NFL history.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have 6 Super Bowl trophies. The Green Bay Packers have 4 Super Bowl trophies. Some of their fans will yell “WE HAVE 13 CHAMPIONSHIPS IF YOU COUNT BEFORE THE MERGER." We don’t. No one does.  In my mind it doesn't matter what was done before a team was in the NFL.

Both of these teams have a RABID fan base. Two of the most loyal fan bases in the league. So it’s always a good time when the Steeler and Packers play against each other.

Let’s take a look at the history of their past meetings. Steelers / Packers rivalry has been played 37 times (including 1 post-season game which was a Super Bowl). The Packers beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl in 2011.

Green Bay Packers lead series 20-17. Steelers won 5 regular season meetings in a row from 1998-2017. The Packers won the last match up in 2021 (27-17). So how would it go this time around?

Green Bay are in somewhat of a rebuild currently and the Steelers are also trying to build their own young talent in real time. So which young QB could lead their team to a victory ?

Well it’s been the same story for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We got OUT GAINED again….and won. We are the only team in NFL HISTORY, to have been outgained in every single game in 9 games, and have a winning record. It felt like this game was gonna be different! We scored two touchdowns quite early! We also added a FG to that score. Steelers lead The Packers 17-13 at halftime. Should have been 17-14 but we blocked an extra point!

Little insight to my personal life, I had the under for my parlay. The under was 38.5. So I was hoping the teams would both ease up on the scoring! But unfortunately, for my parlay and the Steelers defense, the Packers started throwing the ball all over the field. Huge play after huge play would land them in the redzone. But thankfully our defense would BEND yet not BREAK. We would hold them to two FG’s in the third quarter. We would also get a
fantastic interception in the end zone.

We would add on two field goals ourselves for a 23-19 score. But, we were unable to run the clock out and we gave the Packers a chance to score and win the game. Luckily, they would need a touchdown since we blocked their extra point earlier.

Just like against Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers knew we could give them some yardage, but we couldn’t let them score a touchdown. And just like in that game, it end it with another interception!

The Steelers defense which has been the key for the Steelers during every game this year, did it again. The Steelers won 23-19 (lost my under bet) The AFC North is the best division in all of football. The records speak for themselves:
Ravens 7-3
Steelers 6-3
Browns 6-3
Bengals 5-4

Next week we play against our most hated rivals…..
The Cleveland Browns.
