YAZ'S NFL TOP 10 WEEK 10
-Tyler Yasembousky, Contributor
Time for my 10th week of the 2023 weekly NFL TOP TEN. This is my opinion and it changes every week based on how teams performed. Again, I’m only ranking the top ten teams in the league. If you aren’t in the top 10 you aren’t a SB contender.
With that being said, here’s my rankings for this week. My top ten NFL teams after week 10:
1. Philadelphia Eagles (8-1)- The Eagles had a bye this week, yet they come out of the bye with still the best record in the league. Their schedule starts to get a little bit harder down the stretch. Let’s see how this team does.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) - Another team with a bye but the Chiefs are 12th in offense and top 5 in defense. This team has a chance to repeat.
3. Detroit Lions (7-2) - What a crazy game this team had against the Chargers, but at the end of the day they came out with a W, and that’s all that matters. This team is a legitimate contender, there’s no doubt about it.
4. Baltimore Ravens (7-3)- This team is coming off of a loss, but in retrospect, all three of their losses were games in which they had the lead during the fourth quarter. The Ravens always find a way to beat themselves. This team still could beat anyone in the league.
5. San Francisco 49ers (6-3)- I said this team would really dictate what type of team they were once they came out of the bye. They were coming off three straight losses and playing against a team with five straight wins. What did the 49ers do? They dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars. Made them look like they didn’t deserve to play on the same field as them. When healthy, this team is elite.
6. Dallas Cowboys (6-3)- The Cowboys have the same problem the Dolphins do, all the wins have come against teams with losing records. But, unlike the Dolphins, the Cowboys actually play teams with winning records pretty tight. My biggest worry about Dallas is that they seem very one-dimensional. It’s all about Dak throwing the ball to Lamb. If you can stop that from happening, Dallas doesn’t have much of a plan B.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3)- Out gained every game, but all they do is win, win, win no matter what! The Steelers don’t turn the ball over. They also GET turnovers when it matters the most, in the redzone & in the 4th quarter. This is a playoff team, but that’s about as far as they will go. I can’t see them going far in the playoffs winning the way they do. Eventually it will catch up to them.
8. Cleveland Browns (6-3)- Man this defense is something special, but it’s even more impressive when they have games like they did on Sunday, where they couldn’t stop their opponent. The offense finally stepped up and Deshaun Watson went 14 for 14 at one point ! THE AFC NORTH IS THE BEST DIVISION IN ALL OF FOOTBALL. WE MIGHT SEE THREE OUT OF THE FOUR TEAMS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS !
9. Seattle Seahawks (6-3) - There were some plays throughout the game against Washington that showed the bad side of Geno Smith’s season, which has been marked by regression after a terrific 2022 campaign. Smith left yards and points on the field, struggled on third downs, and was hearing the Seattle fans’ disappointment. Yet, he summoned some late-game magic in leading the Seahawks to the go-ahead TD and game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter. On top of that, Smith threw for a career-high 369 yards and had his first turnover-free game in his past five outings.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-3)- It might seem like a wild drop going from 3 to 10, but a 31 point beating will do that to you. This is another team that seems like they don’t really hang with the heavyweights. They are certainly going to win the division and make the playoffs, but can they make it out of the first round? It’s only 10 weeks into the season and we have a LOT of football left to be played… Who’s in your top 10 this week ?
