30 POINTS?? It's a Christmas Miracle!!
-Tom Mele, Contributor
Not only is it almost Xmas but at a rainy MetLife stadium the Jets presented the home crowd to some early good tidings as they placed a bow on a 30-6 win over the Houston Texans. The Texans (7-6) took a step back in their playoff hunt as they were without two of their top WR’S and star TE Dalton Schultz.
The NFL’s leading passer C.J Stroud was no match for the Gang Green defense as Stroud was only 10-23 for 91 yards before leaving in the 4 th qtr with an apparent concussion.
Zach Wilson was a gift as he had his best game as an NFL starter by going 27-36 for 301 yards and two TD’s, one to Breece Hall who caught 8-86 while rushing for 10-40. The other score was a 15-yard TD pass
to WR Randall Cobb who scored his first of the year. Merry Xmas!!
The Jets (5-8) stopped a five-game losing streak and scored 3 TDS in a game for the first time this season. When the Jets went up 14-0 in the third after a scoreless half, it was the first time all year N.Y. had a 14-
point lead.
WR Garrett Wilson was productive again catching 9 passes for 108 yards and the Jets overall outgained the Texans 347-135. The Jets, who are on the verge of the worst third down conversion rate since 1991,
converted 6-15 on third down and even 1-1 on 4th downs. A significant improvement on what has been the Achilles this year. No pun intended.
Zach Wilson was a different QB against Houston. The indecisiveness was gone, and the decisions were smart. When the need came to run, Wilson didn’t hesitate. Calm in the pocket and there was a confidence we fans have not seen all season, including the Eagles win and MNF loss to KC.
What happened? Something may come out this week that OC Nathaniel Hackett coordinated a special package for Wison, someone may report the team rallied together after a tumultuous media week. We will never know, but one thing is for sure: This may have just been a Christmas Miracle!!
