STEELERS WEEK 1: NO MORE DISRESPECT
- Tyler Yasembousky, Contributor
Let’s get the headline out of the way. TJ watt is the best Defensive Player in the NFL
The media wants to keep disrespecting him, pretending Miles Garrett or Michael Parsons or even Nick Bosa are better.... But let’s get real for a moment here. TJ is leaps and bounds the best defender in the league. If you take him off the Steelers, they are picking first in the 2025 draft. He is the MAIN reason we win every and any single game that we do. Simply put, he is the definition of a game wrecker.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin even spoke before the game and said they wouldn’t get TJ with the game that they planned for him. And did that work out ? TJ should have had a strip sack, yet it was called off due to a horrible penalty. Even the ref admitted it was a bad call and a mistake after the game.
So the final score might have been 18-10 but in all reality it should have been 18-3. Because that touchdown never happens if we get the strip sack. However, It legitimately happened the next play.
Let’s get into the actual game itself. The Pittsburgh Steelers faced off against the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta.
Once again The Pittsburgh fans have the best traveling fan base in the entire league. Russell Wilson didn’t start nor play due to lingering injury. This meant we got to see Justin Fields start.
I’ve personally been saying since training camp that Justin field should be the starter. Our young offensive line is not good enough to protect, which means our quarterbacks have to run for their lives. Justin can and did exactly that. Unfortunately, I don’t believe Russ is mobile enough anymore.
I’ll say this about Justin‘s performance. It may have not been anything to write home about, but it wasn’t awful. He did enough to lead us in position to kick 5 FG’s. With that being said, Chris Boswell once again proved he is one of the best kickers in the league. He’s another guy who gets no respect. He never misses an important kick, he can kick from 50 yards plus and more times than not he’s the reason why the Steelers are winning a game on offense.
This was a classic Pittsburgh Steelers performance. Great job on defense and conversely, a pretty mediocre offensive performance. Yet this was enough to win the game.
The main take away from week one is this….
No more disrespect will be tolerated for TJ WATT
Final score: Pittsburgh Steelers 18/ falcons 10
Steelers are 1-0 and face the Denver Broncos Next Week!
