RAVENS GET A HARD FOUGHT DIVISIONAL WIN

Wayne Keehner, Contributor

There was no shortage of money at the QB position this Sunday as both Burrow and Lamar just inked new deals! Problem is, based on the play of either person in week 1,you couldn't tell there was over 350 million dollars guaranteed behind center! Their teams desperately hoped that would change in week 2!

The Ravens walked into Cincinnati as a 3.5 point underdog but that didn't phase them as they took the opening drive 14 plays and 75 yards taking up nearly 8 minutes. That was capped off with a Gus Edward's rushing TD!

While The Ravens Defense looked good early it was the special teams that proved costly. Tucker missing a 59 yard attempt! (I know, hardly a chip shot. It's Justin, we have just come to expect those on the board!) And then the Bengals returned a punt 81 yards to the house!

The Ravens were able to tack on 2 field goals and the Bengals got one so we went into the half with a 13-10 lead. The Bengals looked like they had their offense clicking as they drove down to the Ravens red zone to start the half but Burrow was picked off by Geno Stone on the 3 yard line. The Ravens converted that interception into a Mark Andrew's touchdown.

Lamar looked really good on this drive and really showing chemistry with Rookie Zay Flowers. With the Ravens on top 20-10 Burrow marched the Bengals down the field and connected with TE Higgins for their first offensive TD of the game, reducing the lead to just 3 points.

The Ravens and Bengals each added another TD in the 4th quarter. Higgins got his 2nd of the day for Cincinnati and Lamar connected with new weapon and NFL journeyman Nelson Agholor. In the end the Ravens were able to escape with a 27 - 24 victory putting them at 2-0 and pending the outcome of Steelers / Browns put them in sole possession of 1st in the AFC North.

The Ravens looked like a much better team than they did last week. It was great to have Andrew's. The O line was stronger as Lamar was rushed way less and let him be more comfortable in the pocket. Gus and Hill did great as RB by committee. OBJ did leave with an ankle injury but looks to be nothing serious and should suit up for next week's game against the Colts! That game could be a bit of a trap as their Rookie QB looked great this week until he was removed due to concussion protocol. With it being a home game I predict Ravens beat the Colts 33-24.
