Lions Pull Off Last Second Win Against The Bears

-Frank Leon, Contributor

The Detroit Lions pulled off the last minute come from behind victory over the Chicago Bears. Trailing by 12 with 4 minutes to go, the Lions were able to put the game away and solidified their NFC North division lead.

The Lions defense struggled all day against Justin Fields' legs. He was able to run for 104 yards on 18 runs and was making the defense guess on what was happening and kept them on their heels. He was only able to put up 169 yards passing and 1 TD as he continues to show he cannot be a competent thrower in the NFL. His one TD was a brilliant deep ball to DJ Moore but the rest of the game was just not well ran by fields.

The Lions defense held the rest of the run game to 75 yards rushing. Due to bad field positioning throughout the game, the Lions were down until the end of the game. But the Lions defense came up huge at the end of the game when they needed a stop to get the ball back and then followed it up with a massive Aidan Hutchinson strip sack leading to a safety that put the game firmly away. The biggest pain for the Lions defense was the holding calls on the secondary throughout especially on third downs. Alex Anzalone was the star with 15 tackles.

The Lions offense was the story of the game. Jared Goff had his worst performance as a Lion with 3 picks. 2 of them were batted balls at the line, 1 was a terrible throw and another throw should've been picked off for 6 but the Bears defender shown his lack of hands that led him to be on defense. Goff was able to throw 2 TDs in the game, 1 to Amon-Ra St Brown (8 catches for 77) and 1 long ball to Jameson Williams (2 for 44) to get within one score late in the game that had everyone watching the game knowing that the Lions were going to come back and win.

David Montgomery scored the game winning rushing TD against his former team and put 76 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards. Rookie Star Jahmyr Gibbs had 36 yards rushing and a TD along with 59 yards receiving. Sam Laporta had a less than stellar game with 3 for 18 but he had a huge catch for a 2 pt conversion late in the game.

The Lions next play the hated Packers on Thanksgiving to kick off the slate.

A win would put the Lions at 9 wins and an above . 500 season in back to back years. The Lions magic to win the division is 4, a combination of Lions wins and Vikings losses will lead them to win the North for the first time in franchise history.
