EAGLES WEEK 9 RECAP

-Kenny Pete, Contributor

The Philadelphia Eagles gave the ball to Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott three times in the 4th quarter with the game on the line, daring him to beat them.  He did not , it what could be considered such an epic collapse it would have to be measured in a cosmic sense, almost in a Super Nova like fashion, once again , in a huge moment against a division rival , a quarterback who was trusted to be in that position to with a 4 year / 160 million dollar contract extension could not get the job done and you can still hear the Dallas Sucks chants ring out from Broad & Pattison all the way to this writer's Jersey Shore abode & all Cowboys fans can do is cry about it & hope San Francisco keeps tanking to get a good look at that wild card this postseason.

This one meant A Lot for the Philadelphia Eagles.  They had to scratch that itch & get the monkey of Dak Prescott & the Dallas Cowboys off their backs at home in front of a raucous Lincoln Financial Field.  It's been a mixed bag at home for the Eagles / Cowboys games in Philly the past few years, most of which coming at the end of the season, with backups playing for both teams & postseason contention locked up for one or both teams in a game that both squads are trying to escape without injury & quite frankly have lacked "the juice" to get Philly excited about. Not Sunday.  A beautiful 60 degree November day with a 4:25 kickoff meant that it was going to be a special afternoon in south Philadelphia, with the tailgate starting for some as soon as 7am. Vibes were indeed high on the way into the stadium and extra thanks to all the fans who didn't sellout & kept their tix to represent for their team.  Over the years, I've flat out said "There are too many Cowboys fans here" , once again, Not Sunday.  The Kelly Green was out in full force everywhere you turn.  There were a smattering of brave ones who actually wear the "away whites" , others less brave wearing a generic "blue" sweatshirt, as if Philly fans are going to cut you any kind of slack, if anything, they will go even harder on 'That Guy' because they "think" they are being Sneaky about being a Cowboy fan. Just rep your team at the stadium. The days of "chaos in the stands"  and "700 level" stuff are long gone, I've watched 9 orange shirt guys yolk people out for much less in modern times & anyone who has been to a game will tell you that.

Jalen Hurts is currently battling a knee injury, but don't tell him that & don't look for him on the injury report, but the way this team has rallied around their leader has been very impressive.  Overall Hurts threw for over 2 touchdowns as well as rushed for another touchdown that was very Brotherly and gutted it out to do all he can to help the team win and keep the main thing the main thing. Despite both teams gathering 10 penalties nearing 100 total yards, with the most costly of those Eagles penalties coming on the final Dallas drive of the game, on a 36 yard Sam Bradberry pass interference call that the CB ended up getting injured on, as well as Jalen Carter getting called for encroachment 2 plays later that kept the drive alive.  The Eagles D-line settled things down immediately following that exchange with a sack on Prescott from Josh Sweat, and in the end it was a completion / fumble by CeeDee Lamb who would have been over 200 total yards in offense for the day had he not coughed it up for Eagles safety Reed Blankenship to recover & secure a victory for the 1st place NFC East and now Eight and One (8-1) Philadelphia Eagles going into week 10 bye week to rest up & get ready for the Super Bowl rematch next Monday night vs Big Red and the Chiefs in Kansas City MO.
