EAGLES WEEK 4 RECAP

-Kenny Pete, Contributor

First off, my humble apologies to the BCP+ faithful for the lack of review of Monday nights Eagles / Tampa Bay game. When your favorite punk band comes to the city of brotherly love on a Monday night, the decision was easy. There are 17 weeks of Eagles football, there is only 1 night of OSEES (locally anyway). That band fills my heart with such joy like no other & by all means check them out on YouTube if you'd like to learn more.

As for the Tampa game, TL DR , The Eagles find a way to win games despite struggles on offense. The defense & the running game took this one away from Tampa early & never gave it back pushing the Eagles to 3 and 0 on the season amd 1st place in the NFC East coming out of week 3.

Once again, Vibes were high on the scene at The Linc in South Philly with most fans , media & football analysts having The Eagles defeating the Washington football team in Commanding fashion in the weeks long leadup to one of the few 1pm kickoffs the Eagles have this season.

WHI received the opening kickoff after the Eagles won the toss & differed to recieve at the start of the 2nd half.  WHI took advantage of this & marched down the field for a score on thr opening drive 7 to 0 WHI.

Jalen 7 for 7 / 49 yds capped with a Swift TD for 6.

Eagles 2nd quarter missed opportunities on defense one fumble recovery & one near  interception.

WHI had 2 , 70 yrd drives for scores to make it 14 - 7 with 13 min left in the 2nd. Rookie LB Nicholas Morrow had a huge stop for the Eagles on the final drive of the half holding WHI to 3 to make it 17-7 going into the half.

Devonta Smith  with a huge leaping reception with 30 seconds left in the half , with the Eagles hurrying up forcing WHI to call a timeout in an attempt to get their defense prepared for what happened next. This worked for the WHI squad as they held the Eagles at their own 31 yard line setting up a Josh Elliot 4q yard FG. It's up & its good. End of the 1st half with a score of 17 - 10 WHI.

Eagles opening drive of the 3rd quarter sputters at the Washington 30 yard line , leading to another Jake Elliot 40yd field goal to make it 17 - 13 WHI.

Slay made a great deflection play on McLauren & a flag was thrown from the sideline citing PI. Hometown crowd disagrees & Eagles radio announcer cites 2 penalties vs the eagles , ( this one & amd an infraction on Bradberry ) as "highly questionable calls from this officiating crew."  2 plays later Jalen Hurts connected with AJ Brown for a 56 rd TD & went for 2 & got it off a Gainwell run. There was also a penalty vs the WHI Defense on the TD play for roughing the passer. 21 - 17 Eagles.

Eagles WR able to execute double moves vs the whi secondary setting up a nice drive late in the 3rd quarter that would yield another Jake Elliot fg 24 - 17 Eagles. WHI answers back with another 70 plus yard drive over 11 plays to set up a Robinson TD to tie the game 24 - 24. Crucial drive for the Eagles just before the 2minute warning as Hurts linked up with Olamide Zaccheaus for a 1st down before play stopped. This is big time right here. Tie game. 4th quarter 2 min to go with the game on the line. This is what separates the good from the great. Jalen Hurts connects with AJ Brown , who pulled a sick double move , again, Boo Ya. Touchdown.  They make miracles happen. 31 - 24 Eagles. Jalen Hurts at this point is21 of 30 , 290 yards , 2 TDs , 0 int & a passer rating well over 100 on the day .

Once again , rookie linebacker Nicholas Morrow stepped up to make a big play with a sack on Howell forcing whi to take a final timeout. Sideline or spike situation & Howell throws out of bounds with Eagles Legend Fletcher Cox in his face. Washington 's final drive came down to a 1st down from the 10 yard line with 5 seconds left on the clock. Howell to Dodson to tie it at 31 and we're going to Overtime. Back & Forth from both squads set up a 54 yard Jake Elliot field goal to keep the Eagles undefeated streak alive.
4 & 0.
