5 TAKEAWAYS FROM WWE THIS WEEK

- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief

Just a few weeks ahead of Summerslam, WWE prepares for three major events in Evolution, Saturday Night’s Main Event, and NXT’s Great American Bash. Here’s a look at some of my major takeaways from this week in WWE.

Trish Stratus is Back!!

Ahead of the second ever all women’s PLE in WWE history, arguably the greatest women’s pro wrestler of all time, Trish Stratus made her return to WWE on Friday Night Smackdown. In a segment with WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, Trish, and Queen of the Ring Jade Cargill, it was announced that Trish will be challenging Tiff at Evolution 2. I really like this matchup for Tiffany who’s run has felt like it’s missing just a little something. I think a match with a veteran like Trish is exactly what she may need after going to war with Charlotte at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, don’t forget to keep your eyes on the fallout with Jade and Naomi, who NEED to lock up again soon.

Drew McIntyre Returns

With an apparent lack of WWE Champion John Cena in the next few weeks, non other than Drew McIntyre inserted himself into a conversation between King of the Ring Cody Rhodes and the Viper Randy Orton. Drew continues to be the guy who is a total heel, but you often find yourself agreeing with. I’m interested to see his role with Orton moving forward as they are scheduled to fight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Could this spill into Summerslam?

New Tag Team Champions

Two heel teams face off for the WWE World Tag Team Championships, and the tandem of Finn Balor and JD Mcdonagh walk out of Pittsburgh as the NEW Champions. The Judgement day now hold ALL of the tag team gold on Monday Night Raw as Roxanne Perez is officially appointed to fill in for the injured Liv Morgan. I think this is a perfect position for the ever evolving Judgement Day, but where do the NEW New Day in Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston go from here?

The Wyatt 6 Continue to Dominate The Smackdown Tag Division

The Smackdown Tag Team Division continues to gain momentum every single week as we are now even seeing the AAA World Tag Team Championships over the shoulders of Los Garzas. I absolutely loved the 8 man Tag Team match where one member from each contending tag team took on four members of the Wyatt Sicks. AMAZING call back to Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis’ NXT connection in the Way during the match, ultimately ending in Gargano abandoning the match all together. The tag team division continues to look strong, and it’s safe to put the team of Rey Fenix and Andrade into the conversation as well.

Seth Rollins is in EVERYONE’s Business

Men’s Money in The Bank Holder Seth Rollins is getting involved in EVERYONE’s business, but he’s making it make sense. He explained that he wasn’t trying to Cash In on John Cena, yet was fulfilling his promise to hinder CM Punk as long as there is breath in his lungs. I love it when the dots connect. Rollins confronts World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. Punk goes to attack Rollins. Rollins escapes but is attacked by LA Knight. It looks we are slow playing our Summerslam matches, but we’ll get LA Knight vs. Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
