YANKEES RALLY TO DEFEAT ASTROS 5-4

- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief

It was a close one, but the Bronx Bombers were able to get out of the gate on the right foot with an exciting win over the Astros in Houston. With no shortage of history between the two teams, they certainly started off the 2024 season in exciting fashion.

The Yankees were off to a slow start at the plate, falling behind as far as 4-0 in the fourth inning. But thanks to some stellar offense by Judge, Cabera, Trevino, Volpe, and Soto, the Yankees were able to turn things around. Soto would also prove his value in the field by making a critical play in the ninth to preserve the Yankees now 5-4 lead.

On the mound Jonathan Loaisiga (W) was able to keep it to zero runs in two innings with the Save going to Clay Holmes. Simply put, The bombers stepped up their game in the field while making great decisions at the plate, taking the slow and steady approach to get the W.

The Yankees start the season with a statement win, but have 3 more games in Houston, before heading to Arizona and finally back home in the Bronx for the home opener.
