NEW LOOK RAIDERS MAKE SAME OLD MISTAKES
- Michael Mueller, Senior Editor
The Raiders fell to 1-2 after losing 36-22 to the Carolina Panthers. This was one of few weeks that looked like an “easy win” for the Raiders, showing us how much trouble we are potentially in this year.
This was a perfect example of all the things the Raiders have done wrong in the past couple of years. We couldn’t get the run game going, we couldn’t stop our opponents on third down, we couldn’t make the big play when we needed to, we couldn’t take advantage of opponents mistakes, and we couldn’t score.
The blame ultimately goes on Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy (former Offensive Coordinator for the Bears) and Quarterback Gardner Minshew (former stunt double for Uncle Rico), and it's going to be a very long season until changes are made at both of those positions. Hopefully the QB change will happen soon, but sadly we are going to likely have to wait until the end of the year for any kind of change with Getsy.
It’s kind of baffling, given how absolutely anemic the Bears offense was last year, how Getsy got the job in the first place. Not sure if that was a blunder by HC Antonio Pierce, or GM Tom Telesco. Either way, it was too painful for me to watch the whole game, so after the pathetic 4th and 1 rushing attempt by Menshew in the third quarter, I left B-dubs early to go home and get some peace. Here’s what I did at home instead of watching the second half.
Booked it home to
Eat a shawarma and
Nachos, then
Called my mom at
Home
Made my bed
Initiated a fantasy football trade
Nearly got the trade through
Snacked some more, then
Had a relaxing shower in
Extremely hot
Water
After that I
Napped until it was
Dark. Woke up and
Folded laundry, even
Ironing my dress shirts!
Reluctantly, I peaked at the score and
Erupted in anger. It’s
Getting difficult
Even for me
To
Stay optimistic about our chances this
Year
Next week, the Raiders will host the Browns (1-2) who have been equally bad this year, while the Panthers will try to keep their momentum going against the Bengals (0-2).
